Hiding from the Obvious {open}

Jacqueline wasn't one to be shy in front of people, she took her singing as a blessing, and showed it off when ever she could. There is a time when Jackie didn't like to sing in front of an audience, always acting like an airhead, the typical cheerleader, her secret of being half Hispanic haunted her for some reason. This school had a majority of white students, and she wanted to fit in, she had, being one of the most popular girl in school, so why admit to her heritage. Though today, Jackie wanted to escape her reality, be herself with nobody judging her. Finding an empty Spanish classroom, ironic as it is, she took a seat on top of the professors desk, sitting Indian style, her acoustic guitar pressed firmly around her fingers.

"What song..." she pondered, biting her lower lip, thinking hard. Her small petite hands played the fret softly, her perfectly manicure nails not interfering. "Quedate un momento asi, no mires hacia mi que no podre aguantar si clavas tu mirada que me hiela el cuerpo me ha pasado antes que no puedo hablar." Her voice sounded angelic, in perfect tune with the beat of the song. Taking another unnoticeable breath, she continued the lullaby "Tal vez pienses que estoy loco, y es verdad un poco tengo que aceptar pero si no te explico lo que siento dentro no vas a entender cuando me veas llorar." A small tear escaped her ducts, moistening her cheek and leaving a trail to her dry skin. This song always got to her, but it didn't stop her from playing it before today. Leaving the fret, the back of her hand wiped the tear, shaking her head in disappointment.

"You lost it, you dork...ok...think happy thoughts...think happy thoughts..." pulling the strap off her shoulders, she laid the guitar gently on the desk and jumped down, pulling out her electric instead, built in amp making it appropriate for times like these. Hitting her favorite cords from one of her favorite songs, she snickered, a smile quickly appearing. She didn't sing the intro, to anxious to get to her favorite part which was a total nightmare to sing and hoped she didn't get tongue tied like in the past. "Porque ahora ya no tengo donde esconder el miedo y el miedo sigue vivo se la vive aquí conmigo, yo me baso en la apariencia con placer y sin conciencia, esperando a que algún día tu atención fijes en mí." she giggled, jumping up with the music, excited that she was able to do it without messing up. "Es por eso que ahora visto así. Quiero ser elegante y estilero hasta el fin. No podré proyectarlo me lo tengo que creer." she paused, just like the song "Suponiendo que en la gente la belleza es natural ..." she stopped abruptly playing...that line hit home, tilting her head as she pondered on its meaning, analyzing it with a smirk on her face.

Anthony had been walking by the classrooms, no reason really, he wasnt attending classes today anyway, until he heard music seeping through the Spanish classroom door. He cracked the door just enough to see who itwas, and he couldnt help, but to smile. It was JackJack. Oh how he missed calling her that.

He didnt understand what she was singing, but that didnt stop him from walking in. With a soft click he closed the door after he stepped in, "Hey..." His voice was soft, unlike his confident cocky tone.

Jackie didn't hear anybody walk in while she was playing, but she was in deep thought when Anthony spoke, startling her making her jump and drop her guitar, hearing a crack. "SHIT!" she barked, kneeling down quickly to examine the damage. "A little warning next time Anthony." she hissed, looking over her shoulder and glaring as she picked up the pieces of her priced guitar. Since she was cut off her accounts, she wouldn't be able to purchase another one, oh how she hated being poor, this is what Cynthia must feel like, she thought, as she sighed and placed the remains of her trophy into the case.

Jacqueline never called Anthony by his full name, but since he stopped talking to them and the whole incident back at his house, things were just awkward. "hey..." she replied, not looking up to see his expression, just wanting to get out of there quickly before someone caused a scene.

"I'll buy you a new one." He told her, looking away, and rubbing his neck. He sighed. "JackJack...please....I want us to be the incredibles again. Everything's falling apart. I shouldnt be jealous of you and James, I shouldnt have acted the way I did. I'm sorry, and...I want to make it up. Somehow...anything." He slid his hand into hers, and sighed. "Dont make me beg, but I will."

"I don't want your charities Anthony..." it hurt so much to call him that, she closed her eyes and slipped her hand away from his. "It can't be the same, not with the feelings you have for me. And you are jealous of James, but he's not going anywhere, he is the best thing that ever happen to me." she bit hard to control the tears that were show to come very soon. "And you have new friends, you are pretty touchy feelie with Catherine." her nose wrinkled up in disgust. "Go along and be their puppet, but you are one of the most popular guys in school, you could find a better crowd, but hey" she shrugged her shoulders "to each their own"

Her words hurt beyond repair. "No, I cant find a better crowd. There is no Catherine in my life...shes...just....possessive...and-" He shuddered. "Do you know that Cynthia and Angel are no more? That shes dating Alex who is Cat's fucking right hand man?" He sighed, and rubbed his temples. "I'm not popular...I never was...I'm just...Anthony Saprio...broadway singer." Oh yes, his self esteem and confidence was low. He approached her and kissed her lips passionately, as if the moment he pulled away he was going to lose her. A tear trickled down his cheek as he did pull away and start to turn on his heel. His head hung as he tucked his hands in his pockets as he started to walk.

Jackie didn't kiss back, just stood there, but didn't push him away. Her heart was ripping to shreads seeing her best friend slip away from him. "I didn't know about Cynthia, after that night...well...we really don't talk much either. I feel sorry for her if she thinks Alex is a better catch then you Dash" she finally said his nickname, taking a step forward and grabbing his hand so he wouldn't leave, she just hoped he wasn't playing mind games with her because she loathed mind games if she wasn't the one in control of it.

"She loaths me." Anthony hung his head, and was glad that JackJack stopped him, her hand was comforting. "She tried to call me....for help....and-and I didnt know how serious it was." Tears welled in his eyes. "She cut herself....and I wasnt there...to help her. She could have told me. I've always protected you and her." He rubbed his face and sighed.

Her brow shot up, she cut herself, not sure if she heard correctly. "Cyn isn't like that, she's not emo, she's...when did this happen? Why didn't she call me?" letting go of Anthony's hand, she slipped into one of the desks in the classroom, face buried in her hands trying to comprehend when did this all go wrong? Oh yeah, when she tried to make her best friend feel better only to backfire and kick her in the ass.

"I dont know. She just told me a couple days ago..." He sighed and rubbed his temples. "We are so fucked up, honestly, shes dating Alex, Angel is miserable as hell. Some bitch is lathering herself all over me...and...its aggh.."

Jackie closed her eyes hearing her best friend. "Not like Angel was any better for her, but Larkin...that's just....eww!" she sighed finally looking up, still looking disgusted "Please spare me the details of you and Catherine, just as bad as Alex so you really are not one to judge." she was really glad that her boyfriend was decent, sure he had skeletons in his closet, everyone did, but nothign that was public anyways.

"I dont even like her..." He breathed through his teeth. "Whatever." He looked away and sighed. "We have to get back together. We need like a conference just the three of us." He continued to rub his temples. It was hard not to be able to kiss her...or....just do it right there with her. He still....loved her. Yes, Anthony still loved.

"get back together?" she assumed he was talking about them two, but then realized he was speaking of the trio. "You know well that I don't do interventions and you know that. This is her life, she is a big girls. If she wants Larkin" she shivered again. "then that is her prerogative. We can't judge who she cares about..." she tried so hard to say that with a straight face, looking into the eyes of her ex-best friend.

"What the hell is the matter with you?" Anthony snapped, gripping her cheeks gently. "I dont care who she loves or lusts for, I dont give a damn, I'm saying us three were always together supporting one another, and we need to be there for each other now." His fingers stroked her cheeks, and he quickly removed his hands. "JackJack, Violet, and Dash." He moved away from her.

"The Incredibles don't exist anymore Dash. I'm no longer JackJack, Cynthia isn't Violet and you're not..." she couldn't say him, her cheek leaning into his hand not wanting for him to pull away. She needed him, her best friend, closing her eyes to take in his scent. He wasn't there when she reopened them. "I don't think we can rejoin forces. You broke her heart, I broke yours. And we both have boyfriends now so..." she looked away feeling ashamed. It was true, she wanted to spend every free minute with James, she had pushed the two best people out of her life and it was all her fault, everything. Guilt hit her like a ton of bricks. "I better..." she got up, not bothering to grab the remains of her broken Gibson, leaving her acoustic guitar on top of the teachers desk and began to run out of the classroom.
