Selena-Rose Matthews, a new sophomore to St. Gregory's, stepped out of her father's Silver 2003 Kia Spectra. Her shoulder length blond hair was in two braids that hung loosely around either side of her neck. She looked up at the school in complete awe, not even believing that she was finally here. Shaking herself out of her shock, she turned and helped her father get her luggage out of the trunk.
Placing her book bag on her shoulder, which held her brand new HP laptop and several of her writing notebooks, she turned back to the school. She wore a simple dark wash denim jean with a pale blue tunic, showing loosely beneath her favorite leather jacket. Giving her Father a quick hug, promising to email him instantly when her first day was over with, she grabbed her two suitcases and walked up the steps, her black flats clicked behind her.
Entering the school she looked around, instantly realizing that she had no idea where to go. "Great, just great" She thought a loud as she looked for any sign to point her in the right direction.

River Musil wasn't the most thrilled on the first day of school especially since he'd had to take an early flight from home to get in on time since his parents wouldn't let him just fly in the day before and find a hotel to crash in for the night. His hair was a mess from falling asleep on the bus that transported him from the airport to about a block from the main building's front door. Luckily he had time to dump his hand-me-down bike off at the parking lot by the dorms so not to be embarrassed about it's poor shape and overall size.
He straightened ever strap on his body, his dufflebag hanging on his left lazily, his back pack on his back containing an acer laptop and many sketchpads, two guitar cases weighing on his right and his Peavy KB60 amp in his left grip all included, before heading towards the entrance hall trying to determine if he should duck or not. He'd been smaller last year. To complete his messy student look he wore an baggy black t-shirt over a baggy grey long sleeved shirt, and dark blue jeans that must have been older or hand-me-down due to the overall bag in the legs and the rips at the knees obviously not intentionally done by a designer.
The steps weren't nearly as painful as the year before, where he carried all that plus the bike and paperwork, then again last year his older brother came with him and was poking fun at him the entire time. River didn't even have to duck when he got to the door and walked in, he just had to maneuver everything around so it would fit. He looked around at some of the lost students obviously by their overall dumbfounded appearance. He'd choose one to help, he would have chosen more if he'd packed lighter.
He stepped towards Selena, he didn't think he'd seen her before and she did look a little lost. "Hey" He said looking down at her as he walked over. "Are you lost?"

Selena turned around to see a boy just a little taller than herself asked if she was lost. She let out a sigh of relief. "Yes, very." She declared giving him a warm smile as she set down one of her suitcase to readjust her book bag. Extending her now free hand, "I'm Selena-Rose, people just call me Lena though." She said introducing herself. She slid her sunglasses to the top of her head, so she could get a better look at him.

"Well I can help with that." He returned the smile and managed to twist himself around to shake her hand. "I'm River, people give me nicknames all the time there isn't a set one yet." He shrugged, he really didn't know what nickname to tell her to call him quite yet. He'd have to get to know her a bit. "Well, Lena, first off, what are you trying to find?"

"Oh thank you!" She declared happily her smile widening. "It's nice to meet you River, and I'm looking for my Dorm in the Austen building. Then I gotta get my schedule and then look for my classes... She said rather quickly. She clamped her mouth shut, fearing that she was babbling too much. She was just so excited to get started, this being her first year here.

"Well, obviously you won't find it here, this is,of course, the main school building. Your schedule will probably be in the administration office." River pointed towards the office as he did. "I can show you to the Austen building but I'm not allowed past the lounge, so you're on your own to find the dorm unless we can find another girl to help you out." He looked around for another girl, "Assume that it may take a bit, I'll probably be heading to the Whitman building while you find your dorm so I can get all this stuff off my back I was just going to get my schedule first."

She nodded as she listened to him explain everything. She glanced towards the Administration office. "Seems to make sense." She replied as she lifted her suitcase once again and started to walk slowly over to the admin office, trying her best not to fall over. Her suitcases weighed more than she did and it would be very embarrassing if she fell on her butt in front of everyone, especially River. [/blockquote]

If he wasn't carrying so much himself, he'd help her out. He straightened all his bags and equipment again before following her towards the admin office. He watched around to see if there was anyone that he rememered that could help her with the dorm situation. None so far. "So, what grade are you in?" River would typically right her off as a freshmen, but he decided to question this time.

She made it to the office, setting down her suitcase once more to open the office. She groaned to see there was already a line. "Sophomore, new to the school. Spent all last year begging my parents to let me go here." She explained as she held the door open for him. "You?" She asked with a smile [/blockquote]

"Sophomore as well, second year here." He again returned the smile as he entered. "Parents shipped me off here since I apparently got some talent in me. Of course, I was forced to tune them." He shrugged slightly almost dropping his amp but catching it within a second. "So what attracted you to St. Gregory's, if there is anything more then the whole art scene?" He inquired.

"Oh cool, same year!" She replied closing the door. She stood in line and checked her watch. "Well, they have an amazing music program and my family is obsessed with painting, and painting is not my thing. So I came to a place where I can actually do something I wanted to do." She explained tucking her hair behind her ear. [/blockquote]

"Heh, I'm pretty much the opposite there. My parents were obsessed with tuning my musical abilities." He said proudly patting his guitars. "But I take as many painting, drawing, anything done on paper classes as I can. Though, I'm still required to take a least two music classes or my dad'll pull me out." River only shook his head to that, he was watching the line go slowly as the other students left with their schedules. "Do you sing or play an instrument or are you interested in both?" Talking always made time go by a little bit faster.

"Awe, sorry to hear that." She replied not thinking that was fair to force him into music. "So what are the music classes are you taking?" She asked as she reached the main lady at the desk. She told her name and the woman stood up and went to look for her schedule. Selena leaned against the desk, "Um I sing, do a little ballet probably not as well trained as some of the other students." "Advanced Male Choir and Jazz Band." River replied, he didn't like being in advanced too much, it was only due to multiple previous lessons. "Ballet? Cool." He was no where near about to tell her anything about having to go to dance lessons it wasn't exactly his favorite memory though he still took dance there. "Don't worry about everyone else here, some people are super freaks when it comes to what they do. I knew a guy last year that could spin on his toes, one foot, three times bound into the air and land in the splits without hurting himself. and he could push himself just fine from that position and do it again."

"Advanced male choir? You must be pretty good. I have to audition for the vocal classes I wanted." She added as she grabbed her schedule taking a quick glance over them. She raised an eyebrow, "Really? My brother says the splits is a curse for guys if they're forced to do them."[/b' She added with a laugh, grabbing her suitcase once more. [/blockquote]
